Are Amerimax patio covers and carports structurally engineered?

Yes. Products comply with the 1997 Uniform Building Code (refer to ICBO ES evaluation report no. ER‑2621P), 2000 & 2003 International Building Code, 2001 California Building Code and the Los Angeles Building Code. For specific questions on wind, snow and live load requirements, contact your local building department.

What are the benefits of Alumawood™ aluminum patio covers?

Alumawood™ patio covers are built to last and can withstand extreme temperatures, strong winds, rain and sun. Constructed with heavy header beams and a weather‑resistant Aluma‑shield paint system with Teflon® additive, Alumawood™ patio covers are structures of lifelong durable beauty. Unlike real wood, Alumawood™ shade structures need virtually no maintenance because they won't burn, crack, peel, warp, rot, or attract termites. And these patio covers are friendly to the environment: Alumawood™ patio covers are made of recycled aluminum so you're helping to preserve forests.

What styles do Alumawood™ patio covers come in?

Alumawood™ patio covers come in two different styles to suit your needs. If you want added shade but prefer partial sun and refreshing breezes, our Laguna lattice patio cover is the ideal solution. However, our Newport solid roof patio cover provides you and your outdoor furniture with the best protection against the elements. You'll be able to enjoy your outdoor living space even when the weather isn't ideal.

3" x 8" headers

Newport (solid patio cover) only:
2.5" x 6" Super 6 structural flat pan

Laguna (lattice patio cover) only:
1.5" x 1.5" lattice tubes

What available colors do your patio covers and carports come in?

Alumawood™ patio covers are available in six classic colors: White, Desert Sand, Sonora Beige, Mojave Tan, Latte, and Adobe. Our traditional aluminum patio covers are available in White or Neutral, and our Maxx Panel™ insulated roof panels are available in White and Desert Sand.

What type of paint coating is applied to your Alumawood™ aluminum patio covers and carports?

Amerimax uses a specially formulated paint system by Dupont. This is a weather‑resistant, anticorrosive Aluma‑Shield paint system with Teflon® additive that withstands the harshest conditions, including sun, rain, wind, and extreme temperatures.

Does your Alumawood™ shade structure support attached or installed items such as ceiling fans?

Other than a ceiling fan as per the specific engineering detail, our engineering does not support anything installed on top of or hanging from our Alumawood™ products.

What upgrades are available?

Optional upgrades include Aluminum or Fiberglass Columns, Corbel End‑Caps, and Scallop End‑Caps.

Are your patio covers and carports covered by a warranty?

Can your Alumawood™ shade structure be repainted?

While we do not recommend it, you can repaint your Alumawood™ shade structure; however, the proper preparation is critical. Amerimax recommends consulting a professional paint store such as Sherwin‑Williams for repainting advice. Our Alumawood™ patio cover and carport is coated with silicone polyester and cured in a paint line oven for a durable finish.
